Going through old work can sometimes be fun. Rediscovering old ideas and works can either rekindle a spark for an idea that you had forgotten about, or in most cases when I do it, make you wish you'd never bothered looking! Recently though I found a couple of pop toy designs that I did a few years ago. As with most of the stuff I do, I was not all that excited or happy with the results at the time, but now looking back wonder if there was something more to pursue. Maybe at some point I might revisit these designs from another angle. Perhaps by incorporating them into some painting. The original purpose was designs for vinyl toys, of which I have a soft spot for. However, a rebirth for them very well could manifest in new paintings. I might even revisit the toy idea. We shall see!

I am currently now working on my first full photoshop painting. I've often heard that the best way to get to know a new media is to work on something that is familiar to you to begin with, so a self portrait seemed to be a good subject for this. So far I am at the under painting stage, just laying down the tones and shading. If I can just get photoshop to STOP crashing every five minutes then I'll be happy!!
